I went to Whittlesea from Year 7 to Year 12. I had a positive experience at Whittlesea forming some life-long friendships with both students and staff. During my time I had many opportunities to help me progress in life. I participated in professional development programs including the college mentoring, Toast Masters and Victorian Youth Development Program where I earned a bronze medallion for the Duke of Edinburgh award. One of my highlights was I went to see the Dalai Lama speak at Rod Laver Arena.

During Year 11 and 12 I studied two main streams being science and technology though I didn't specifically know it at the time that it would help form a strong foundation for my career. I held positions of Assistant Music Captain and Assistant House Captain, I then went on to further to fill the roles of Music Captain and House Captain. In year 12 I was fortunate to receive the Caltex award for best all-round student.

After completing VCE I wasn't 100% percent sure of what I wanted but went to study a Bachelor of Information Technology at RMIT university and started to get involved more with my local CFA. While in the library one day I read a book called Australia Burning: Fire ecology, policy and management, and this gave me clarity that I wanted to work in fire management (the management of fire in the environment). As a result, I then went on to study a second degree in Environmental Science at Deakin University.

Since I began my paid career in fire emergency management with Emergency Management Victoria supporting the operations of the State Control Centre. I then went to work for CFA for a while in training before deciding to seek a position with the Department of Environment and Primary Industries as a Project Firefighter. From here I moved to prescribed burning with CFA and then to Macedon Ranges Shire as the Fire Management Officer.

Today I am a Project Officer Forest Fire Management Victoria where I contribute to Victorian Government's Safer Together Program enabling Victoria's Land and Fire agencies to better manage the State's bushfire risk. As a part of this role I am forest firefighter and help respond to fires and emergencies all year round, one of my favourite parts of this role is undertaking planned burns help reduce the fuel loads in Victoria's forests and grasslands.
